Privacy policy

Health browsing is sensitive by nature. Someone reading about heavy periods, low libido, or burnout should not become an advertising segment. So we built The Her Shift to collect as close to nothing as a website can.

What we don’t collect

• No accounts, and therefore no profiles, passwords, or reading histories held by us.
• No fingerprinting.
• No third-party content embeds while you read.

Measurement, and your choice about it

When you first visit, a banner asks whether we may measure how the site is used. Nothing runs until you choose, choosing “Essentials only” changes nothing about how the site works, and you can revisit the decision any time via “Tracking preferences” in the footer.

If you allow measurement, two kinds run. First, our own private measurement: anonymous, random identifiers (never your name or email) recording which pages were visited and which links were clicked, stored on our own infrastructure and shared with no one. Second, advertising measurement tools — the Meta Pixel, and if we run campaigns there, TikTok and Google Analytics — which help us know whether our outreach works. These tools receive standard technical information and, where present, their own cookies; each platform uses it as described in its own privacy documentation.

Because health reading is sensitive, we deliberately limit what leaves this site: advertising platforms are not loaded on article, topic, search, or planner pages, and the events we do send them carry at most a broad topic category — never an article title, a search term, your saved list, or planner contents. We never send any platform your name or email address.

What stays on your device

Two features use your browser’s local storage: saved articles and the symptom planner. That data is written and read entirely on your device. It is never transmitted to us — we have no server that could receive it. Clearing your browser data deletes it; so can the planner’s own Clear button. The planner also deliberately avoids asking for identifying or high-sensitivity details like date of birth, insurance, address, or medication doses.

What we receive if you contact us

If you email hello@example.comor subscribe to the newsletter, we receive what you send — your email address and message. Newsletter addresses are used to send the newsletter and for nothing else: no selling, no renting, no “partner offers.” Unsubscribing removes you. If no newsletter service is configured, the signup form says so and transmits nothing.

Server logs

Like all websites, the server that delivers these pages may generate standard technical logs (such as IP address and requested URL) for security and reliability. We do not use logs to profile readers, and we do not combine them with any other data.
